Karma

What IS karma?

  • (Hinduism and Buddhism) the effects of a person’s actions that determine his destiny in his next incarnation
  • Karma (कर्म ; kamma) in Indian religions is the concept of “action” or “deed”, understood as that which causes the entire cycle of cause and effect (i.e., the cycle called saṃsāra) originating in ancient India and treated in Hindu, Jain, Buddhist and Sikh philosophies.

Quotes on Karma:

“You are important enough to ask and you are blessed enough to receive back.” – Wayne Dyer

“How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours.” – Wayne Dyer

“To go from mortal to Buddha, you have to put an end to karma, nurture your awareness, and accept what life brings.”

“Realize that everything connects to everything else.” – Leonardo DaVinci

“I’m a true believer in karma. You get what you give, whether it’s bad or good.” – Sandra Bullock

Karma is the idea that your actions come back on you. So putting out good vibes/deeds will bring positivity into your life (or after-life depending on what you believe). I definitely believe that doing good things for others, makes you happy. So in a sense, that’s karma. Do I also see examples of very kind people who have stumbled into some horrible tragedy or disease – yes. So the verdict is out on karma for me, what do you think?
