Coachella 2012 to be Held Over Two Weekends

31 May

Coachella’s official website states:

“We’re excited to announce Coachella 2012 will be held over TWO WEEKENDS.

In an effort to try and accommodate everyone who wants to experience the festival, COACHELLA 2012 will be two separate events, held over two consecutive weekends. We will attempt to produce two identical festival weekends. That means same lineup, same art, same place, different people.”

Coachella Weekend 1 – April 13-15, 2012 | Coachella Weekend 2 – April 20-22, 2012

I don’t know how I feel about this! Coachella is supposed to be a unique experience, if tickets sell out then oh well, you’re out of luck. No matter how hard Coachella tries, they can never make two identical events! How will we talk about the festivals: “Were you at Coachella 1 or Coachella 2 this year?”-¬† sounds weird right!? Also, many are concerned about the quality of the performances. How does Coachella expect to get the best performers and DJ’s to commit to two weekends? Let us know, what do you guys think??

Coachella fest over two weekends is worthless. It’s one of those events you make it to or miss, that’s part of the fun. All performances by any artist worth seeing is unique and the crowd and day and time are all part of that. They should sell single day tickets if they want to be more accomodating.

I agree. It is supposed to be exclusive.. That’s what makes it more fun. It will be disappointing to not be at the festival the same weekend as your friends! Well, I guess we just have to be thankful coachella exists to be able to bring you so many concerts for a decent price! I still plan to go in 2012.

Coachella is going to turn into every other film festival. All of the parties will take place on the first weekend. The question that remains is will the best shows close both weekends. If not, I assume the headliners will be during the first weekend to raise hype. Therefore, the shift will be the desire for first weekend tickets as opposed to getting them at all.
